Pickn' Plantn' & Plowin' festival
May 12th & 13th 2006
The Cocke County Department of Tourism has partnered with Treasures of Appalachia, Inc. to bring you this Art & Craft Gathering with a special emphasis on herbs & flowers. Lots of free workshops and demonstrations focusing on the identification and use of plants, flowers and botanicals in foods, household products like soap and salves as well as photography and floral arranging. There will also be an antique tractor show, old time mountain music, great food and of course, the best art & crafts around.
And it's all free to the public!
WORKSHOPS
We anticipate having around 10 FREE demonstrations or workshops that will focus on things like floral arranging, using botanicals in soaps and food, photographing flowers, explanations of natural plant remedies: what to use when and how to find them and helpful advice on gardening and yard care.
MUSIC
A grant has been approved by Art Builds Communities - A program funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and administered in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission and Rose Center & Council for the Arts - that will pay for live musical entertainment from Tennessee performers.
FOOD VENDORS
A variety of delicious foods will be available for purchase from there different vendors.
ART & CRAFT
This Treasures of Appalachia, Inc. Art & Craft Gathering is open to all area artists who produce their own hand-made goods. Space is limited, so register early. All Art/Craft participants must submit a paid registration to be assured a space.
